Invitation Press Conference Gaza: Enough Empty Rhetoric, the EU Must Act

The scale of suffering in Gaza demands more than empty rhetoric. Ahead of the upcoming Foreign Affairs Council and European Council, MSF calls for a press conference in Brussels urging the leaders of the European Union to take concrete action to stop the massacres in Gaza.

EU inaction is complicity.

Speakers:

  • Christopher Lockyear, Secretary General Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors without Borders
  • Omar Ebeid, MSF emergency coordinator recently returned from Gaza
  • Virginia Moneti, MSF medical doctor recently returned from Gaza

Through the delivery of an open letter addressed to all 27 EU Member States, the Secretary General of MSF, Christopher Lockyear, implores the EU to move beyond rhetorical statements and use all political, economic, and diplomatic tools capable of exerting real pressure on Israel to stop what MSF teams are witnessing on a daily basis: the killing of healthcare and humanitarian workers, the bombing of medical structures and shelters for displaced people, and a complete blockade of the Strip.

The Secretary General of MSF will be joined by Omar Ebeid, an MSF emergency coordinator who left Gaza ten days ago, and Virginia Moneti, MSF medical doctor who just left Gaza on the 12th of June.

You are cordially invited to this press conference on Monday june 16th 2025, in the Maelbeek Room of the Residence Palace, Rue de la Loi 155, 1040 Brussels. Interviews are possible after the event.
